Lamber residents in Banihal seek repair of damaged bridge
Banihal, Oct 15: Residents of Lamber, Ward No 2, in Banihal have urged the local administration to immediately repair a bridge in their area that has remained damaged since last year, posing a serious risk to public safety.
In a written appeal addressed to the tehsil administration, locals have expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the bridge, which they say endangers commuters, particularly during night time and bad weather.
The bridge, they added, is used daily by dozens of residents, school children, and elderly people.
“The bridge constructed by forest department has been unsafe for months, and there is a real fear of a tragic accident if repairs are not carried out soon,” said Shahid Khan, president of the Youth Club, Panchayat Lamber.
The residents have appealed to the authorities to take prompt action for the repair or reconstruction of the bridge, emphasising that their repeated requests in the past have gone unanswered.
They said that the locals of Lamber hope that the administration will prioritize the issue to prevent any mishap and restore safe connectivity to the area.
