Laila Majnu screened in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 2: Six years after its release, Bollywood film ‘Laila Majnu’ was screened at INOX Theatre here today.

The film starring Avinash Tiwari and Triptii Dimri in the lead was released in 2018. It is a romance drama written by noted Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and directed by his brother Sajid Ali.

The film has built a dedicated fanbase over the years. This growing appreciation has led to its re-release in Srinagar where the film’s beautiful visuals and touching love story hold special significance. Due to overwhelming response for the movie Rockstar recently , Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and his team decided to re-release the movie Laila Majnu in Srinagar.

Khawar Jamsheed who was the line producer of the film Laila Majnu told Greater Kashmir that Imtiaz Ali and his team decided to re-release the movie in Kashmir on August 2 due to the overwhelming response for the movie Rockstar— starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. It was re-released in cinemas in May 2024.

Audiences flocked to the INOX Theatre in great numbers to watch the film once again and relive the magic. "It was a houseful on day one” Khawar said. Among others, Director of the movie Sajid Ali and lead actor Avinash Tiwari watched the movie on first day. The film was shot in the valley. “The film, known for its stunning visuals and heartfelt performances, is expected to resonate with the local audience" Khawar added.
