Awantipora, Nov 09: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Awantipora Police, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, apprehended a woman involved in drug peddling during a naka checking operation at Padgampora, officials said.

They said, police personnel noticed a lady moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora. On seeing the police party, she attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.

Upon questioning, she was identified as Rubeena, wife of Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zahidpora Hawal, near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar.

During her personal search, ten sticks of charas-like substance weighing 421 grams were recovered from her possession. The recovered contraband was seized on the spot under proper legal procedures.

The accused was arrested, and Case FIR No. 245/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora. Further investigation is underway.
