Kargil, Apr 30:   National Conference-Congress who are part of I.N.D.I.A bloc have finalised the name of former Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC Kargila nd district president National Conference Kargil Haji Hanifa Jan as the joint candidate for the lone Ladakh parliamentary constituency .

BJP has already announced the name of current CEC LAHDC-Leh Tashi Gyalson as its candidate for the seat.

Sources told Greater Kashmir that the leadership of National Conference and Congress in Ladakh have finalised the name of Haji Hanifa Jan as the joint candidate, adding that it is to be seen now whether the AICC will pick up the candidate from Kargil or Leh.

They said if the candidate is announced from Kargil then Haji Hanifa Jan will be the joint candidate and if the AICC decides to announce the candidate from Leh then in that case the NC-Congress will field Haji Hanifa as an independent joint candidate.

Confirming this development, Co-chairman KDA and Additional General Secretary NC Qamar Ali Akhoon told Greater Kashmir that they have finalised the name of Haji Hanifa Jan as the joint candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha seat.

Meanwhile, several senior Congress leaders including Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai and Nasir Hussain Munshi have rushed to Delhi to meet the AICC leadership ahead of the announcement of candidate.

District president Congress Kargil, Nasir Hussain Munshi told Greater Kashmir that they are in Delhi to meet party leadership to discuss certain party affairs besides conveying the high command about the nomination of joint candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha seat. He said that Haji Hanifa Jan will be the joint candidate for National Conference and Congress alliance.

The Ladakh Lok Sabha seat is going for polls on May 20 in the fifth phase of the elections. The contest is going to be between BJP and NC-Congress alliance candidate.
