Sources told Greater Kashmir that the leadership of National Conference and Congress in Ladakh have finalised the name of Haji Hanifa Jan as the joint candidate, adding that it is to be seen now whether the AICC will pick up the candidate from Kargil or Leh.

They said if the candidate is announced from Kargil then Haji Hanifa Jan will be the joint candidate and if the AICC decides to announce the candidate from Leh then in that case the NC-Congress will field Haji Hanifa as an independent joint candidate.
