Ladakh LG’s advisor reviews arrangements

Leh, July 24: Dr Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, chaired a meeting to review the arrangements and preparations of 78th Independence Day celebrations, 2024.

According to a press release, the main events on Independence Day will be held at the Polo ground, Leh, and the Khree Sultan Cho Stadium, Kargil. During the meeting, Advisor exhorted that no stone should be left unturned in grandly celebrating the 78th Independence Day in the Union Territory. He directed that the Raj Niwas, all government buildings in Ladakh and Ladakh Bhawans shall be illuminated in advance. He said that iconic buildings including the Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and other historical places should be lit up to mark the festivities and streets be decorated with flags and lights.

Advisor directed for adequate arrangements for parking, seating, drinking water, sanitation facilities and deployment of health personnel besides refreshments for participants especially school children and women during the event.

Advisor highlighted the importance on the promotion of Ladakh's local products like flowers Lilium, local made mementos and to showcase Ladakhi culture during the event. He directed all the concerned officials to ensure all the arrangements for hassle free and smooth conduct of Independence Day across the UT.
