Ladakh leaders hail NCC cadet for receiving Raksha Mantri Padak

Kargil, Jan 22: Leaders in Ladakh have hailed NCC cadet Dechen Chuskit for receiving the  Raksha Mantri Padak.

Member of Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal congratulated Dechen Chuskit for the award. Chief Executive Councillor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC), Kargil Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon has  also congratulated her for the achievement. "Congratulations to JUO Dechen Chuskit of 1 Ladakh Bn NCC for making history as the first Cadet from UT Ladakh to receive the Raksha Mantri Padak.Your achievement is a beacon of inspiration," CEC said.

CEC LAHDC Leh Tashi GGyalson has also congratulated her on this milestone. “Many congratulations to Junior Under Officer Dechen Chuskit of 1 LADAKH Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), marking a historic milestone as the first Ladakhi cadet to be honoured with the Raksha Mantri Padak by Defence Minister of India recently. Cadet Chuskit's remarkable achievement is truly commendable and stand as an inspiring example for the young generation of Ladakh.” CEC Leh said. Secretary Youth Services and Sports Ladakh Ravinder Kumar Dangi termed it as a proud moment for Ladakh and wished Dechen Chuskit more success.

Junior under officer Dechen Chuskit, a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet from Ladakh, was conferred with the prestigious Raksha Mantri Padak.

Dechen Chuskit of 1 Ladakh battalion of the NCC was awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. She has became the first cadet from Ladakh to receive the award. This achievement is commendable since only two cadets in the country have been awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak. The award is given for commitment to service, leadership and exemplary contributions to the National Cadet Corps.

Chuskit, belonging to a remote village of Kargil, worked hard to secure a place in the Republic Day (RD) contingent in 2023 as part of the group song, group dance and ballet, showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Ladakh. Her melodious voice has earned her many laurels and she was selected for re-recording the NCC song with Shankar Mahadevan in Mumbai, sources said.
