A group of commuters said that the lack of proper maintenance, including sanitation and lift is taking a toll on them. Despite having multiple lifts, these are not being used. This causes inconvenience to commuters who park their vehicles in upper storeys,” said Abdul Hamid, a commuter.

“If there is a lift facility, why are these not being used when they charge You can see parents carrying their children to the upper floor in their laps to board vehicles because the lift is not functional,” said Altaf Ahmad, another commuter.

“There are no sanitation facilities in the parking slot. Garbage mounds attract stray dogs posing a threat to commuters, including young school-going students who board school and private vehicles there,” said Afaq Ahmad, a commuter.

“Besides, there is no CCTV facility in the upper storeys or authorised persons to monitor cars. This poses a risk to commuters, especially students who board school vans in the first, second, and third floors, as they usually have the presence of unscrupulous persons,” they said.

A huge quantity of construction material has been dumped at various areas of the parking slot. This hampers the movement of commuters and poses a risk of injuries. “We wonder why a large quantity of sand and bricks has been left unattended,” said Abdul Hamid, a commuter.

“Earlier, these manholes were open, posing a threat to commuters. These have been renovated, and now we hope that the authorities will finish other construction activities at the earliest. There are also gaps in the slabs on the first floor, which can cause injuries to young students. These safety matters need to be addressed,” said another aggrieved.

A senior officer of SSCL said they will visit the parking lot and assess the condition so that these issues can be addressed accordingly.

“We will take up the issue of the lift with the SDA, which is supposed to fix it. As far as sanitation is concerned, we will address that too so that commuters will not face any issue,” the official said.
