Lack of accommodation, staff mars quality education at UPS Dogripora
Kupwara, Mar 26: Lack of substantial accommodation and staff at Upper Primary School (UPS) Dogripora Handwara has been a concern for students studying there for long.
The residents of the area said that following the up-gradation of UPS Dogripora in 2008, they believed their children would get quality education. But, according to them nothing like that happened.
The locals are anguished about the lack of basic amenities for students. They said that this school has never been a priority for officials to upgrade the infrastructure here.
“Due to lack of accommodation students are forced to take classes under open sky and during inclement weather, they are crammed in the available three rooms, which mars the quality education,” Javid Ahmad Mir a local said.
With over 170 students, the school has only three rooms to offer for six classes. “The officials were running the school in two buildings but few years before one of the three room buildings developed huge cracks forcing teachers to take classes in the available three rooms of another building,” he added.
Only six teachers are posted at UPS Dogripora, making the job tough for them besides it also mars the quality education.
The students appealed to higher authorities to redress their hardships being faced by them at the earliest. They have sought immediate intervention of Director School Education Kashmir in this regard, so that the sufferings of students may end soon.
Meanwhile Zonal Education Officer Rajwar Shabir Ahmad Badana said that he will personally look into matter. “I have recently joined in Rajwar but still I will look into all the possibilities what can be done at the earliest,” he added.
