Lachampora Health Centre craves for medical facilities
Kupwara, Oct 13: The government health and wellness centre located in Lachampora, a remote village in Upper Rajwar Handwara, craves for adequate healthcare facilities as it is understaffed and lacks basic amenities.
Residents reported that only a few employees are posted here, and they seldom come to the centre, resulting in hardships for locals regarding treatment. "The centre is in deplorable condition and remains shut most of the time," said a local.
According to residents, whenever a medical emergency arises, they are forced to book a private cab to reach PHC Zachaldara or the District Hospital in Handwara to access healthcare.
The health centre caters to a large population; however, it fails to meet patients' expectations due to a lack of staff, infrastructure, and essential diagnostic facilities.
Residents have sought the immediate intervention of Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Mohammad Ramzan, in this regard, hoping to alleviate the hardships faced by the community.
