Jammu, Sep 19: Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh today chaired an online webinar on Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan as part of Sewa Parv 2025. The session drew over 1,000 participants from across the Union Territory, including representatives of the civil and police administration, private employers, employees and NGOs.

In his opening remarks, Singh underlined the Labour Department’s role in advancing welfare measures, particularly for women, and administered the Shramik Shakti Pledge to strengthen commitment towards women workers’ empowerment.

The webinar featured speakers from academia, labour institutions and child welfare bodies. Dr Ellina Samantroy of the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute stressed gender equality at work with reference to labour laws and international standards. Prof Renu Nanda, Dean of Education at the University of Jammu, spoke of women as agents of change in promoting hygiene, education and social well-being.

Nimisha Rajput, President of the Child Welfare Committee Samba, outlined legal frameworks for protecting young girls. Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir Najwan Nazki highlighted the role of social security measures, while Assistant Labour Commissioner Ramban Amit Kumar addressed challenges in tackling child labour.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) Roopali Gandotra.

Organisers said the session provided a platform for dialogue on women’s empowerment, child protection and collective responsibility in building stronger families and communities under Sewa Parv 2025.
