Labour department Kupwara celebrates International Labour day in Handwara

Kupwara, May 1: The Labour Department Kupwara Thursday organised International Labour Day with great enthusiasm at Town Hall Handwara.

The event aimed to recognize the contributions of labourers and promote their welfare.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Javeed Masoodi, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

A large gathering of labourers, traders, private school owners, and government officials were present in the programme.

On the occasion Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara, Arshid Qadir highlighted various beneficial schemes for labourers, saying that the government was committed to uplift the labour class.

He said that several financial schemes have been put in place to support labourers.

To a question about child labour, he said that strict action would be taken against those who are involved and encouraging children for child labour.

The participants hailed the government’s efforts and initiatives being taken for their overall welfare and development.
