Labour Commissioner holds stakeholder meet in Kupwara
Kupwara, Sep 30: The Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kupwara, on Tuesday organised an interactive session led by S. Charandeep Singh, Labour Commissioner, J&K, bringing together key stakeholders, including transporters, business owners, industrialists, private school associations and construction workers.
During the session, Singh engaged in one-on-one discussions with participants, addressing concerns related to the implementation of labour laws and clarifying provisions to ensure fair and regulated workplaces.
Reinforcing the department’s welfare mandate, the Labour Commissioner distributed financial assistance cheques to registered Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) under the BOCW Welfare Scheme. The aid covers medical support, higher education for workers’ children, and death assistance for dependents of deceased workers.
Singh underlined the Labour Department’s commitment to strengthening the social security net while ensuring strict compliance with labour regulations. Awareness was also raised on social security schemes, including PMSBY, PMJJBY and PMSYM.
The Kupwara session is part of the Labour Department’s broader initiative to promote welfare, transparency, and stakeholder engagement across J&K.
