KYARI founder Arhan Bagati calls on J&K DGP, discusses Kashmir drug abuse issue

Srinagar, July 17: Founder of Kashmir’s Yumberzal Applied Research Institute (KYARI) Arhan Bagati called on Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain to discuss various issues plaguing the valley, with a special focus on the alarming rise in drug abuse among youth.

Bagati, as per a statement, issued today, expressed his concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse, particularly the spread of synthetic drugs, which are destroying the young generation. "Synthetic drugs are a ticking time bomb, and we need to act swiftly to prevent a catastrophe," he said.

During the meeting, Bagati emphasized the role of sports in combating drug abuse among youth. "Sports have the power to engage and empower young minds, keeping them away from the clutches of drugs," he stressed, as per the statement.

"Sports can be a game-changer in our fight against drug abuse. By promoting sports and providing opportunities for our youth to engage in physical activity, we can help them develop a positive outlet for their energy and emotions," Bagati added.

DGP RR Swain, as per the statement, assured Bagati of the police department's commitment to tackling drug abuse and appreciated his efforts in raising awareness about the issue.

As Bagati is currently pursuing Master's in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, he said he remains committed to youth empowerment and leadership.

He is also the Impact Ambassador of Paralympic Committee of India and was India's first Deputy Chef de Mission of the Indian Paralympic Contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
