KVK Bandipora coordinator wins best language film award

Hyderabad, Feb 22:  A film titled “Climate Resilient Village and Impact of Village Institutions in Bandipora District” made by Dr Tariq Sultan, programme coordinator at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora-1, won the best language film award at the MANAGE Agri Film Festival 2023 on Thursday.

The award ceremony was held at the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) in Hyderabad, a statement issued here said.

The award, which included a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a certificate, and a memento, was presented to Dr Sultan by Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Dr P Chandra Shekara, Director General of MANAGE Hyderabad.

The award recognized his outstanding contribution to showcasing agricultural practices and community resilience in the Bandipora district , a handout issued by a spokesperson here said.

Dr Sultan’s film was appreciated by experts at the national level for its significance and relevance in the current scenario of climate change and its impact on agriculture and livelihoods, it said.

The film also serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, agricultural practitioners, and stakeholders working towards building resilient and sustainable agricultural systems, it added.

Dr Sultan thanked the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Kashmir, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, for his pivotal role in advancing agricultural knowledge and fostering collaboration in the region.

He also expressed his gratitude to Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, director of extension at SKUAST-K, for his invaluable support and encouragement. He also appreciated the organisers of the event for providing a platform to showcase innovative initiatives in agriculture.

Meanwhile, the team at KVK Bandipora-1 congratulated Dr Sultan on his well-deserved recognition and applauded his dedication to advancing agricultural knowledge and practices for the benefit of farming communities.
