Anantnag/Kulgam, Aug 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) Anantnag and Kulgam, in collaboration with the agriculture and allied departments, today organised Kisan Sampark Abhiyan – Rural Credit Workshops under the J\&K Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sector Project (JKCIP).

At Bon Dialgam in Anantnag, Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK-Anantnag, highlighted the programme’s role in transforming the district’s farm sector through farmer-oriented projects and financial support. Officials from J\&K Bank, horticulture and agriculture departments, along with scientists, sensitised farmers about credit-linked schemes, institutional support, and opportunities under JKCIP. A large gathering of farmers, entrepreneurs and FPO members actively participated.

In Kulgam, the workshop was held at Behibagh and inaugurated by Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kulgam, M. Afzal Parry, who urged officials to work for the uplift of the farming community. He encouraged farmers to take full advantage of government schemes to ensure family and national prosperity.

Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, Chief Scientist and Head KVK Kulgam, termed the initiative a golden opportunity for farmers and rural youth to benefit from new schemes. District agriculture and horticulture officers also shared information on centrally sponsored programmes, including HADP and JKCIP, and advised farmers to register on the JKCIP portal.

The event saw huge participation from farmers, entrepreneurs, FPO representatives, scientists and officials from agriculture and allied departments, marking a significant step towards expanding rural credit outreach and agri-entrepreneurship in the region.
