Srinagar, Nov 26: The Management of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union has commended senior traffic police officials for their recent comprehensive road safety initiative targeting driving license violations and public awareness.

As per the statement, the New Kashmir Fruit Association express its heartfelt appreciation to M Suleman Choudhary (IGP Traffic),  Dr Ajeet Singh (DIG, Traffic), Muzaffar Ahmad Shah (SSP Traffic),  Zaheer Abbas (Addl. SP Traffic), Ravinder Paul Singh (SSP Traffic), Rohit Baskotra(SSP Traffic, NHW, Ramban) for its recent initiative to conduct a comprehensive drive aimed at checking driving licenses, promoting road safety awareness, and addressing violations, particularly those involving minors. We believe this proactive approach has made an immense contribution to both the safety of our community and the overall discipline on our roads.

The Association highlighted several key achievements of the traffic department's drive, including meticulous license checks that have helped remove unqualified drivers from the roads. By enforcing traffic regulations and conducting strategic awareness campaigns, the department has significantly contributed to improving road discipline and safety.

"Of particular note was the department's emphasis on preventing underage driving, a critical issue that poses substantial risks to young drivers and other road users. The initiative not only identified violations but also took corrective actions to protect community safety," said chairman KVFGU, Bashir Ahmad Basheer.

The drive demonstrated a multi-pronged approach, combining strict enforcement with public education. Traffic police implemented innovative strategies such as improved signal timing, increased patrolling, and targeted awareness campaigns to change public perception about road safety, he said.

While praising the traffic police's efforts, the Fruit Growers Union also made a constructive suggestion: the need for erecting bus stops throughout the city to ensure passengers are picked up and dropped at designated locations, further enhancing urban transportation safety.
