KU’s north campus ignites entrepreneurial spirit with Harud Business Fest

Baramulla, Oct 28: In a bid to instil entrepreneurial skills among the students, the Department of Management Studies at Kashmir University’s north campus on Monday hosted Harud Business Fest.

The event was a blend of business and culture wherein the department of management studies being the organiser of the event had encouraged the youth with their business ventures to erect the stalls at the campus while on the other hand, the students of the campus performed cultural performances to add a cultural blend to the fest.

The Vice Chancellor of the Kashmir University (KU) Prof. Nilofer Khan was the chief guest at the occasion while the Director North campus Prof. Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad was also present at the occasion.

In her address at the occasion, VC KU lauded the Department of Management Studies for generating the idea of hosting such an event and stressed for giving in more efforts to instill entrepreneurship skills among the students.

“Besides hosting this event, this campus is performing well. Unlike last year, the admission is almost full this year. I assure the management here that the KU administration will be always there to extend any kind of support for the faculty development or the development of the campus,” Prof. Nilofer Khan said. She encouraged the students to continue developing their skills in entrepreneurship.

Briefing about the initiatives taken by Kashmir University, the VC said that varsity has admitted the first batch students for IAS and JKAS coaching.

"I am sure that the students here are talented and successful results will follow. Kashmir University holds a distinguished status and has got its recognition not only within the UT but also across the globe,” she said.

“Our own alumni are placed as civil servants, whether they are in the teaching faculty, technology, or the corporate sector. This achievement represents the University of Kashmir as a whole,” she said. The VC KU also said that the varsity was working diligently to improve placement opportunities for its students.

Notably, the annual Harud Business Fest as per the organizers serves as a platform for the students to showcase talent and entrepreneurial abilities.

“We teach our students that jobs do not come in handy now so they should use their skills and generate employment,” the event coordinator Dr. Ambreen Khursheed Wani told Greater Kashmir.

“When the students set up the stalls they learn how to sell and have ideas. This was the main aim to provide a small platform to sell their ideas,” she said.

Coordinator, Department of Management Studies Dr Viqar U Nissa in her concluding remarks highlighted the impact of such festivals in building entrepreneurial skills among students and Dr Sumaira Gulzar faculty member of the department presented a vote of thanks.
