Kupwara’s Zakir wins gold, Sozan claims silver at All India Pencak Silat Championship

Srinagar, Feb 2: Zakir Hussain Wani of Kupwara won a gold medal while teammate Sozan Nazir secured silver at the All India Pencak Silat Championship 2025–26, held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand from January 29 to 31.

Hailing from Batergam, Kupwara, Zakir Hussain Wani, as per a statement issued on Monday walked onto the mat carrying more than ambition—he carried the weight of a region often unseen. Bout after bout, he fought with fierce clarity: clean strikes, fearless counters, and unbreakable composure. When the final whistle blew, gold was not just around his neck; it was etched into Kupwara’s story.

Sozan Nazir’s run was a portrait of courage. Against seasoned opponents, he stood tall—absorbing pressure, adapting tactically, and refusing to yield. His silver medal shines with resolve, proving that Kupwara’s son's are rising with power and purpose.
