Kupwara, Mar 10: People across north Kashmir's Kupwara district are up in arms against authorities for failing to adhere to the power schedule even in the holy month of Ramadhan, thus leaving the residents to suffer. Complaints poured in almost from every area including Kupwara Main Town, Lolab, Trehgam, Kralpora, Sogam, Karnah, Tarthpora, Vilgam, Magam, Kandi, Natnusa, Handwara Main Town, Maidan Chogal, Gund Chogal, Pohru Chakla, Lower Qazi Abad, Upper Qazi Abad, Lower Rajwar, Upper Rajwar and many other areas where people have shown strong resentment against authorities for erratic power supply.

People said that the concerned department has miserably failed to ensure adequate electricity even in the holy month of Ramadhan. “We fail to understand that even after promised by the concerned department of substantial power supply in the holy month of Ramadhan why authorities are resorting to unusual power cuts," said a local from Kupwara. "The miserable situation of electricity has exposed the tall claims of authorities," said another resident from Handwara. "The department has even failed to ensure the electricity during Suhoor and Iftar time,” he added "We fail to understand why the department is not adhering to its own set schedule that too in the month of Ramadhan. Everyone was hoping that an adequate supply of electricity would be rendered to consumers in this holy month but nothing that can be seen on the ground," he added. The residents have sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan in this regard so that the hardships being faced by the people may end.
