Kupwara hosts Police Commemoration Girls’ Cricket Tournament

Kupwara, Oct 22: The Kupwara Police Commemoration Cosco Cricket Tournament for Girls 2025 began on Wednesday with enthusiastic participation, honouring police martyrs and promoting women’s sports and community engagement in the district.

In the opening match, as per a statement, Halmathpora Cricket Club faced off against WCC Kupwara in an exciting contest. WCC Kupwara put up an impressive all-round performance, defeating their opponents by 46 runs.

The tournament, organised under the aegis of District Police Kupwara, aims to pay tribute to the supreme sacrifices of police martyrs while encouraging women’s participation in sports and fostering community bonding through friendly competition.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Syed Javaid Ahmad, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He commended the players for their spirit and dedication, appreciating their efforts in promoting sportsmanship and preserving the legacy of the martyrs.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and reflected a strong spirit of unity, remembrance, and sporting excellence.
