Kupwara Encounter: Injured soldier succumbs at hospital, operation on

Srinagar, July 24: A soldier who was injured during encounter in Kowut Lolab area of north Kashmir Kupwara has succumbed to injuries, officials said.

The officials told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in Lolab after receiving specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, they said.

They said that during exchange of fire one terrorist was killed while one Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) was injured, identified as Dilawer Singh of 28RR was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to this injuries.
