The residents said that earlier garbage carrier vehicles would come on their doorsteps to lift garbage but for last one and a half month, they haven't turned up putting locals into a lot of inconvenience.

"Every household would pay Rs 50 every month for garbage lifting but due to unknown reasons the vehicles were not coming. We have repeatedly brought this issue into the notice of concerned officials numerous times but they seem to be insensitive towards this issue," a local Imtiyaz Ul Islam Shiekh of Umer Abad Khunbal Handwara told Greater Kashmir.

The residents have sought immediate intervention of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara Aziz Ahmad Rather in this regard so that the hardships being faced by them may end.
