Kulangam link road in shambles, locals suffer

The link road of Kulangam area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district is in shambles thus putting locals into a lot of inconvenience. The residents are anguished with the concerned department for failing to repair the road for the last many years.

The residents said that the road was dotted with potholes on multiple spots, exposing the tall claims of authorities about improving road connectivity.

"For the last many years we have been demanding macadamisation of our road, but don't know why the concerned department has been watching our hardships as mute spectators," they added.

The residents said that a huge chunk of the population has been suffering due to dilapidated conditions of this road. "The pathetic condition of the road has become a severe issue for the people but authorities are doing nothing with regard to addressing the issue," said a local.

Residents said that they have brought this issue into the notice of the concerned department numerous times but nothing concrete has materialized so far.

Harden Lolab area without potable water

The residents of Harden Lolab in north Kashmir's Kupwara district are without potable water for the last 20 years with the result they are subjected to severe hardships.

The residents said that over sixty households were suffering due to non-availability of drinking water. They said that four years back a new water supply scheme was approved for the village but that is yet to be completed due to reasons best known to authorities. The residents have appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene and address the issue forthwith.

Rajwar residents aghast over unscheduled power cuts

The residents of several villages in Rajwar area have accused authorities of not providing them electricity as per schedule, making things hard for them. The residents said that they have been experiencing severe power outages even in the holy month of Ramadhan.

Students of these areas are also anguished for prolonged power cuts affecting their studies badly. “We have never had this bad electricity problem and the situation has gone from bad to worse since the inception of the holy month of Ramadhan. The authorities resort to power cuts without any justification,” said a student.

They have sought immediate intervention of higher ups to look into the matter so that the hardships being faced by them may end.
