Kralpora makeshift wooden bridge poses threat to residents
The makeshift wooden bridge over Nallah Hudd near Jamia Masjid market in Kralpora area of Kupwara has been giving tough time to people for several years but authorities are yet to construct a concrete bridge so that the hardships being faced by people may end.
“The wooden bridge being used to cross the nallah poses a threat to the people. Children, elderly and women feel insecure while moving on this bridge. We are suffering badly in the absence of a proper concrete bridge,” a local said.
The residents said that they have moved from pillar to post during the last few years for redressal of their grievances, but to no avail.
They have sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan in this regard, so that some concrete steps may be taken for construction of a concrete bridge.
Locals demand separate education zone for Magam
The residents of Magam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are demanding a separate education zone for their area. Residents said that Magam being a large area has not been rendered a separate Education Zone much to the disappointment of people who have to travel a long distance to reach Handwara Zonal Education Office.
“Over one hundred government and private schools are running in Qaziabad with more than four hundred teachers on job. I am unable to figure out why we are being discriminated against and deprived of a separate education zone when our area does meet the required criteria for a separate education zone,” Mohammad Amin, a local, told Greater Kashmir.
The residents said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned officials numerous times but after the passage of several years nothing concrete has been done in this regard.
The locals have sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor in this regard and urged the higher authorities of the education department to establish a separate education zone at Magam.
