Srinagar, Jun 17: Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party’s Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir has expressed “grave concern” over the mysterious death of a 10-year-old boy in Lalpora Kunzar, Tangmarg, a press release said.

He has demanded “a thorough and swift investigation into the matter to uncover the truth.”

“Pertinently, a 10-year-old boy from the Lalpora Kunzar area of Tangmarg was found gravely injured in an orchard on June 12 (Thursday) after going missing. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to a hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed after being on a ventilator for several days,” the press release said.

It added that the family of the victim alleges that the injury marks on the body of their son indicate that it seemed that he was beaten ruthlessly by someone, which led to his death. Local residents have also staged protests against this incident, demanding a probe.

In his statement, Ghulam Hassan Mir urged the police to “ensure a prompt and thorough investigation to uncover the truth.” He said “those involved in this heinous crime must be apprehended immediately and brought to justice.”

Apni Party leader  also expressed his deepest sympathies to the grieving family, especially the parents of the victim.

He termed the child’s death “a painful incident, stating that it is beyond imagination and an inconsolable loss.” He said, “If it is a case of murder, those involved must be given the severest punishment.”
