Srinagar, Feb 05: CPI(M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today said that killing of innocent people deserves strongest condemnations, but subjecting an entire community to collective punishment is “unjust” and “unacceptable”.

He was talking in the backdrop of Kulgam terror attack following which hundreds of youth reportedly have been detained by police and other security agencies for questioning.

On Monday unidentified terrorists fired upon a family in Behibagh village in Kulgam district in which an ex-serviceman was killed, while his wife and niece sustained injuries who are undoing treatment at Army’s 92-Base Hospital in Srinagar.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) Tarigami said: “Reports of nocturnal raids and arbitrary detentions following a terror attack in Behibagh area of Kulgam are deeply disturbing. While the killing of innocent people deserves strongest condemnation, subjecting an entire community to collective punishment is unjust & unacceptable”.
