KU organises interactive session with SSUS, Kerala

Srinagar, Sep 26: To encourage academic collaboration and cultural exchange between institutions across India, the University of Kashmir (KU), Thursday organised a day-long interactive session with the faculty and students of the Department of Social Work, Sree Sankarachariya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), Kerala here.

The session, hosted by the varsity’s Department of Social Work, provided an enriching platform for students and faculty members from both the universities to share knowledge, experiences and insights into the field of social work.

As part of the day-long activities, the visiting team from Kerala including 3 faculty members and 27 students, undertook a campus tour led by students from the KU’s Department of Social Work. The tour highlighted both the soft and hard infrastructure of the campus, showcasing KU’s facilities that contribute to the academic and social environment of the institution.

In her welcome address, Head, Department of Social Work, Prof Shazia Manzoor, who introduced the guests to the ethos and activities of the department, emphasised on the collaboration between universities across India.

“It is a great opportunity that we could host them here, such collaboration paves way for many opportunities for students as well as universities to learn and grow,” she said.

Syed Uzma Hamid, a student from the Department of Social Work, in a comprehensive presentation provided the Kerala team with an overview of the department, its academic programmes, research initiatives and community outreach efforts.

A Q&A session was also held, where students and faculty members interacted knowing about different aspects related to social work in Kashmir and Kerala.

Dr Saima Farhad, faculty at the Department of Social Work, conducted the proceedings of the event while, Josna Johny, a student from Sree Sankarachariya University, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
