KU North Campus clinches 2nd place in RBI policy challenge

Srinagar, June 5:

In a significant development, a team from the Department of Management Studies, North Campus, University of Kashmir, has secured the prestigious 2nd place in the National round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023.

Led by their faculty advisor, Dr. Viqar U Nissa, the team comprising Noureen Jan, Irtiqa Naaz, Madiha Shabir, and Bazila Mehraj showcased exceptional understanding and analysis of financial policies throughout the competition.

Their journey to success was marked by significant victories at the Regional and Zonal levels.

Emerging as winners in the Regional round, the team progressed to represent the North Zone, where they triumphed over competitors from diverse regions and institutions, including IIT-Madras, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, and IMT-Ghaziabad.

The pinnacle of their success came in the Zonal round held in New Delhi on 6th December 2023, where they secured the top position, impressing judges with their insightful review of monetary policy.

The National round, held at the RBI Office in Mumbai, witnessed their performance in front of a distinguished jury, including the Governor and Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank of India, Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran, and esteemed economists and policy experts.

For their outstanding performance, the team was awarded the 1st Runner’s up trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 75,000, highlighting not only their dedication but also the high standards of academic excellence and mentorship provided by the Department.

"The entire University of Kashmir community extends its heartfelt congratulations to the team for this remarkable," the handout reads.
