KU launches e-NOC, e-communication modules for paperless governance

Srinagar, Dec 2: To advance administrative efficiency and promote paperless operations, the University of Kashmir (KU) Monday officially e-launched its two new digital modules- e-NOC, and e-Communication as part of its ERP-based Administrative Management System (AMS).

A statement of KU issued here said that developed in-house by the Directorate of IT&SS KU, these modules represent an important step in the varsity’s ongoing journey toward digital governance and sustainability.

The e-NOC module revolutionizes the clearance process for retiring employees by automating approvals, ensuring transparency, and significantly reducing turnaround times. It has also eliminated the hassle of moving from department to department, making the process seamless and efficient.

The e-Communication module digitizes official correspondence, enhancing organization, security and speed while reducing reliance on paper-based processes. Vice Chancellor KU, Prof Nilofer Khan, who e-inaugurated the modules, highlighted the university’s vision for integrating technology into its administration and redefining governance in higher education.

"These modules show our determination to create a transparent, efficient and paperless administrative framework," she said. While lauding the hassle-free single window mechanism for retiring employees, Prof. Khan said, "The e-NOC system simplifies the retirement process, benefiting employees and setting a benchmark for the digital revolution in the region." While demonstrating the new e-services, Director IT&SS KU, Dr. Maroof Qadri said, "These digital tools aim to make administrative processes faster, more efficient and paperless, benefiting both employees and the institution." He said, "ITSS has been providing expert consultancy to different government institutions on e-governed services."

The e-inaugural event was attended by the Dean Academic Affairs KU, Prof Shariefuddin Pirzada, Dean Research KU, Prof Muhammad Sultan Bhat, Registrar KU Prof Naseer Iqbal, Controller of Examinations KU Majid Zaman Baba, Director IT&SS KU Maroof Qadri, Special Secretary to VC KU Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri and other senior administrative officials of the varsity.

The university community welcomed the new initiatives and appreciated their potential to improve workflows.

KU’s AMS has previously integrated several in-house modules, including HR Management, e-File System, e-Bill System, and Hostel Management, among others.

These tools have enhanced workflows, accountability, and transparency and created a more effective administrative culture at the varsity.
