Kremlin welcomes China’s Global Governance Initiative

New Delhi, Sep 7: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as “one of the very important initiatives” in the current global transitional period, Global Times reported.

Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, Peskov said many countries no longer wish to live under a unipolar system or follow rules imposed “by unknown actors for unclear interests.” Instead,

he emphasised that nations prefer to rely on the United Nations and its Charter. Peskov noted that countries of the Global South are increasingly uniting around this vision, calling recent events proof that such trends are strengthening. According to Global Times, Chinese President Xi Jinping first proposed the GGI on September 1 at the “SCO Plus” Meeting in Tianjin. Russian President Vladimir Putin also voiced support for the initiative, saying Moscow is interested in advancing concrete discussions.
