KPDCL announces scheduled power shutdowns in multiple areas of Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 17: Several areas across Kashmir will face power outages this week as the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) announced scheduled shutdowns to facilitate road development, tree-cutting and maintenance works.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, shutdowns will be carried out between 18 and 20 September, with supply suspended from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in most locations.
On 20 September, a shutdown of the 33KV Wangipora–Batwina Tap line will affect 33/11KV receiving stations at Batwina, Wangipora and Nowgam. Power supply will remain disrupted in Batwina, Nowgam, Wangipora, Zazna, Ahan, Waskura, Kharbagh, Sumbal, Nesbal and adjoining areas.
The same day, the 33KV Army Hakbara line will also be shut down, impacting receiving stations at Hakbara, Hajin, Preng, Madhwan and Army installations. Areas including Hajin, Preng, Madhwan, Banyari, Hakbara and Chendergeer will face outages.
In Ganderbal district, the 33KV Kangan–Surfraw line will remain off on 18 and 20 September to connect the tapping point of the under-construction Wangath Tap line. Receiving stations at Surfraw and Gagangeer will be affected, cutting supply to Gund, Kullan, Gagangeer, Sonamarg, Surfraw, Ganiwan and adjoining areas.
Similarly, shutdowns of the 33KV Kangan line on the same dates will leave receiving stations at PDC Kangan and Kangan without supply, affecting Mammer, Wangath, Kangan, Akhal, Baba Nagri, Poshkar, Khanan and nearby villages.
On 18 September, felling of poplar trees along the 33KV Pampore–Badamibagh line near Panthachowk will require shutdowns affecting receiving stations at Panthachowk, Lasjan, Badamibagh and Sonwar. Areas including Sonwar, Lasjan, Pandrethan, Indira Nagar, Shivpora and Panthachowk will face disruption.
Additionally, the 3KV Khansahib line will be shut down on 18 and 20 September from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for tree-cutting and routine maintenance. Receiving stations at Khansahib, Raithan and Brenwar will remain off, affecting Brenwar, Surasyar, Shenipora, Khansahib, Yarikhah, Gurwaite, Watred and adjoining areas.
KPDCL officials have urged residents to make necessary arrangements and said the shutdowns are essential for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
