Rajouri, Sep 16: A key road link between Kotranka and Khawas in Rajouri district has remained closed for the past 10 days after a 200-meter stretch collapsed in Badhaal village, leaving nearly 20,000 people in over a dozen villages cut off without an alternative route.

The Kotranka–Khawas road, shut since September 6, serves as the primary lifeline for over fifteen villages.

As per reports, the closure occurred after massive land sinking at Badhaal village, where nearly a two hundred metre stretch of road collapsed into a gorge, completely cutting off connectivity.

The route is not only essential for linking Khawas tehsil headquarters with Kotranka but also serves as the main arterial road connecting these remote areas to Rajouri district headquarters.
