Kishtwar gears up for National Voters Day celebration
Kishtwar, Jan 14: Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO) Kishtwar, Idrees Lone today chaired a meeting to review the activity plan and arrangements for National Voters’ Day (NVD) celebration.
Comprehensive discussions were held at the meeting regarding the arrangements to be made and the activities to be conducted on the occasion of NVD, scheduled on January 25.
It was decided that the celebration will be held at multiple levels across the district, including Villages, Higher Secondary Schools, ERO HQs and District level.
The Dy DEO emphasised launching an awareness campaign across the district to enhance citizens’ participation in the electoral process and to encourage new eligible voters.
The Dy DEO informed that as a prelude to the National Voters’ Day (NVD) celebrations, the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan has emphasised on holding varied activities to promote the theme “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure. “These include installing thematic banners, public engagements through social media with posting of awareness videos by Youth Icons and Social Media Influencers, felicitating new voters, and incorporating NVD logos into office stationery, media content, websites, and election-related presentations.
Additionally, Media persons who made outstanding contributions during the last Assembly elections would be felicitated, recognizing their efforts in raising voter awareness and ensuring the success of the electoral process.
It was decided that the events would feature a pledge ceremony, quiz competitions, drawing competitions at AWCs, seminars, awareness/interactive sessions for the labourers at HEP project sites, awareness programs for transporters and drivers, nukkad nataks, and a felicitation ceremony for new voters and polling stations with more than 90% voter turnout. Mega Rally shall be organised at DC Office HQ on the Day.
The Dy DEO also instructed for the wide publicity of the program through social media platforms, as well as electronic and print media.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs), along with Booth Awareness Groups (BAGs), were directed to celebrate the event by conducting public awareness activities at each polling station in the district.
