KILLING OF 2 PUNJAB RESIDENTS | Operation underway to recover incriminating material

Srinagar, Feb 15: Following the arrest of the prime accused in the killing of two residents from Punjab in Srinagar, a massive operation is underway to retrieve a mobile phone and other incriminating material thrown into a water body by the arrested person along the Ali Jan Road here.

A senior Police officer said that the prime accused, Adil Manzoor Langoo, a hybrid terrorist, was apprehended from Zaldagar, Srinagar.

Upon interrogation, Langoo said that he disposed of the mobile phone used to contact his handlers in Pakistan into a water body at Saidapora near Aiwa Bridge on the Ali Jan Road.

He also confessed to discarding other incriminating material at a separate location along the same stretch.

“To ensure a thorough investigation, it is crucial to recover the mobile phone and other material from the water body,” the officer said. “A large-scale operation has been launched with the assistance of Marcos, SDRF, and Navy personnel at both specified locations. We are hopeful that the necessary evidence will be successfully recovered, which will significantly aid us in the investigation.”

A Special Investigation Team under the DIG, Central Kashmir, has been formed to further investigate the incident.

Two residents of Amritsar, Punjab, were attacked by terrorists in the Shalla Kadal area of Srinagar on February 7, 2024.

Amrit Pal succumbed to his injuries immediately, while his colleague Rohit, who was critically injured, died a day later.
