Srinagar, Jul 24: The league stage of the Khyber Cements Kashmir Super League (KCSL) 2025 wrapped up on Thursday with the final league match, bringing an end to an action-packed round of football that has gripped fans across the Valley for weeks at synthetic turf at TRC in Srinagar.
Mushtaq Bashir, one of the key organising members, told Greater Kashmir that with the end of the league stage, two teams will bow out, while six sides will book their place in the eliminator stage.
He said the knockout rounds will kick off later this week, setting the stage for some thrilling contests as the top teams battle for the title.
Tournament So Far
This year’s KSL has been marked by high-scoring encounters, close finishes, and standout performances from local talent. The matches witnessed strong fan turnout, reaffirming the reviving popularity of football in Kashmir.
Several young players impressed with their skill and composure under pressure, while experienced campaigners added flair and leadership to their sides.
Mushtaq Bashir expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct and impact of the league, stating that the eliminator phase will bring excitement to the league.
“From the first whistle to today’s final league match, the energy has been electric. The response from teams and fans has been phenomenal. This tournament has not only given players a competitive platform but has also strengthened the football culture in Kashmir. We are now entering the most exciting stage, the knockouts, where every match is a final,” Bashir said.
He further added that the tournament is designed to bridge the gap between local talent and professional platforms, providing visibility and growth opportunities to promising players.

The ongoing Kashmir Super League 2025 (KSL) also witnessed a packed TRC Turf Ground on Sunday, as thousands of enthusiastic football fans turned up to watch their favourite local stars in action.
According to officials, that is the first time in recent years that a local football tournament had drawn such an overwhelming response.
