Khyber Cement launches Sufi Safai movement 2.0 in Uri
Uri, Aug 20: Khyber Cement’s Sufi Safai Movement Phase 2.0 was successfully launched in Uri, north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Wednesday, marking a large-scale cleanliness drive across the border town.
Spearheaded by Rampage Digital and supported by partners including Khyber Cement, Exceptional IAS Academy, Aala Cabs, Bake My Cake, Greater Kashmir, Big FM, Radio Uri FM 90, and Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital Srinagar, the initiative aimed to inspire civic responsibility and environmental awareness among the community.
The event began early in the morning with enthusiastic participation from students of various schools and the local college. Starting at the Mini-Stadium Uri, participants marched through the town market, engaging in collective cleanliness activities, before culminating at the Government Degree College Uri.
A felicitation ceremony was held at the college campus to honour key contributors. Among those felicitated were SHO Uri, BMO Uri, ZEO Uri, local school and college representatives, sponsors, and other dignitaries for their valuable support and dedication.
The organisers highlighted that the Sufi Safai Movement draws inspiration from core Sufi values of compassion, love, and service, aiming to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable development within the community.
“Our mission is to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and to inspire collective efforts toward building a cleaner, healthier environment,” organisers said.
Heartfelt gratitude was extended to the local administration, police, NGOs, and civil society members for their unwavering support. Special thanks were also given to local volunteer groups such as Uri Foundation and Muhim-e-Inqulab for their active role in organising and managing the event.
The successful launch of the Sufi Safai Movement 2.0 in Uri reaffirms the commitment of the community and partners toward sustainable civic initiatives and environmental stewardship in north Kashmir.
