Khelo India Winter Games- 2025 Gulmarg || LG, CM to be Co-Chairpersons of organising-coordination panel

Jammu, Jan 11: In order to ensure the successful organization of the Khelo India Winter Games 2025, a high-level panel has been framed, with Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and it’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as it's Co-Chairpersons of the “Organizing cum coordination committee."

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, will be chairperson for the “Khelo India Winter Games-2025.”

This panel will act as the apex body for policy directions and guidance for the successful conduct of the Khelo India Winter Games, 2025.

For their smooth conduct in the Union Territory, the J&K Government has accorded sanction to the constitution of a 19-member “Organizing Coordination Committee” and a 44-member Executive Committee, to be led by the Chief Secretary, J&K.

Besides the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, LG and CM, other members of the “Organizing cum Coordination Committee” will include Minister, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Chief Secretary, J&K, Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Joint Secretary, Development, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Director General of Police, J&K, Principal Secretary, Home Department, and Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Member, and Principal Secretary, Finance Department.

Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department will be its member secretary.

Secretary, PW(R&B) Department, Secretary, Revenue Department, Director General, Sports Authority of India, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Director, Khelo India, New Delhi, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India, and a representative from the Indian Olympic Association will also be its members.

The chairperson may co-opt and include any officer or resource person, consultant, or eminent sportsperson in the committee, which will meet as per requirement at least once a month.

The CS-led Executive Committee for Khelo India Winter Games, 2025, will have Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, as its co-chairperson.

Director General of Police, J&K, Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, Principal Secretary, School Education Department and Culture Department, Director, Fire and Emergency Services, J&K, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, Joint Secretary (Development), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India will be its members.

The Executive Committee, which will meet at least once a month, will ensure smooth conduct of KIWG-2025 and supervise and monitor different activities of these games.

Panel will also comprise Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Department, IGP Traffic, Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department, Secretary, Transport Department, Secretary, PW(R&B) Department, Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Srinagar, and Director Tourism, Kashmir as its members.

Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, district Baramulla, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, district Budgam, Director, Information, J&K, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Chief Engineer Mechanical, Division Kashmir, MD, J&K Cable Car Corporation, CEO, Gulmarg Development Authority, and Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir will also be members of the panel.

Secretary, J&K Sports Council will be its member secretary.

The executive panel has been tasked with bringing about the overall coordination among various implementing agencies and discharge responsibility under the overall guidance of the organizing cum Coordination Committee.

The executive panel has been mandated to supervise and provide oversight vis-à-vis infrastructure development of KIWG-2025 venues.

The committee will monitor the progress of projects related to KIWG-2025 in the field and review the work of implementing agencies.

Among other members of the panel, the other representatives are from the Sports Authority of India, Director, Srinagar Airport, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan, J&K, a representative of Indian Railways, Station Director.

All India Radio, J&K, Director General and High Performance Director, Sports Authority of the UT administration, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, a representative from the Indian Olympic Association, and a representative from the Winter Games Association.

Two prominent sportspersons, viz., Gul Mustafa and Hafeeza Hassan, will also be the members of the Executive Committee.

Besides, the chairperson may co-opt any officer or resource person, consultant, eminent sportsperson in the executive committee.

It will apprise the Organizing cum Coordination Committee of all decisions of the executive committee from time to time and raise all issues and concerns that may need the attention of the Organizing cum Coordination Committee.

The Executive Committee will issue guidance and directions to the Games Secretariat for smooth management of the programme.
