Kheer Bhawani Mela celebrated in Jammu

Jammu, June 14:  Amid heightened security arrangements, hundreds of devotees, mainly Kashmiri Pandits, Friday paid obeisance at Kheer Bhawani Peeth (temple) in Jammu outskirts to mark the beginning of 3-day Mela Kheer Bhawani.

Peeth is a replica of one of the most revered shrines of Kashmiri Hindus at Tulmulla in Kashmir. Throughout the day, the temple reverberated with prayers and celebrations by devotees. Earthen lamps were also lit besides offering flower petals, milk and Kheer to the Goddess.

Anil Pandita, a devotee, said, “This is a major festival of Kashmiri Pandits. It is celebrated by them all across the globe with great reverence and exuberance. Though many prefer to visit Tulmulla yet here in Jammu also, it is celebrated with similar fervour at this temple. We pray for the well being of the community, our nation and all its citizens.”
