Khatana calls for greater youth engagement in sports
Jammu, Sep 28: BJP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Er Gulam Ali Khatana attended a traditional Dangal (wrestling competition) held at Bari Brahmana in Samba district. The event, organised by the local community, drew an overwhelming response with enthusiastic participation from wrestlers and spectators across the region.
Addressing the gathering, MP Khatana lauded the organisers for preserving and promoting Dangal, describing it as an inseparable part of Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural identity. He noted that such grassroots sporting events not only uphold traditions but also provide a powerful platform to unite communities and positively engage the youth, said a press release.
“Sports play a vital role in channelizing the energy of our young generation. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji envisions youth as the torchbearers of a stronger India. Initiatives like the Khelo India scheme reflect this commitment to creating a healthier, fitter and more disciplined society,” Khatana said.
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s focus on youth empowerment, MP Khatana said unprecedented efforts are being made to nurture sports talent from the grassroots level, promote indigenous games, and build modern infrastructure across the nation.
