Keep stocks of essentials available: Hakeem Yaseen

Srinagar, Feb 22:  Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has urged the government to ensure availability of stock of essentials in Kashmir division in the wake of closure of Srinagar - Jammu National Highway after the heavy snowfall and rains.

In a statement he has also urged the administration to clear snow from various roads in the upper Kandi areas of Khansahib and Budgam areas and early restoration of power and water supply in the snow affected rural areas where feeders and electric lines have been damaged due to the heavy snow fall.

He stated that the non-availability of stocks has been always a cause of concern for the people of Kashmir during winter as the national highway remains often closed due to landslides. He said recent heavy snowfall and rains has again led to traffic blockades on Jammu-Srinagar highway. This leads to hike in the prices of vegetables, fruits and poultry birds.

PDF Chairman has also called for early snow clearance from roads and restoration of affected power and water supply in snow affected upper Kandi areas of Khansahib and Budgam areas. He has urged the government to deploy men and machinery in strength to restore road communication and power supply in the all snow affected areas to ease hardships of the people. He has also urged for early restoration of National Highway to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities to the consumers.
