KDA, trade bodies announce complete shutdown in Kargil tomorrow

Kargil, Sep 24: Amid growing discontent in Ladakh, the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and several trade bodies held an emergency meeting in Kargil today, announcing a complete shutdown in Kargil tomorrow to press their long-pending demand for inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

Sources confirmed that the scheduled visit of Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta to Kargil on September 25 has been postponed in view of the tense atmosphere in Leh.

Additionally, the administration has decided to cancel the Ladakh Festival, citing security concerns and widespread protest calls by various groups.
