KCCI's Century Milestone: 90th AGM discusses Kashmir's economic hurdles

Srinagar, Sep 23: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) held its 90th Annual General Meeting on September 21 at Hotel The Kaboo in Srinagar, coinciding with its 100th foundation year. The event, presided over by President Javid Ahmad Tenga, saw a large turnout of members, including past presidents.

Secretary General Faiz Ahmad Bakshi presented the Annual Administration Report to the assembly. Notable attendees included Baldev Prakash, MD/CEO of Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner of Industries & Commerce Department; and Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.

The house approved the Administration Report, Auditors Report, Statement of Income & Expenditure, and Budget for 2024-2025. In a moment of recognition, KCCI member Zahoor Hussain Alamgir was felicitated for his recent award in Papier Machie exports from Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh.

During the meeting, members raised urgent issues requiring government attention, with some concerns pending resolution for an extended period. President Tenga assured the assembly that KCCI would pursue these issues with "greater zeal and zest," emphasising ongoing efforts to address problems faced by various economic sectors.

The meeting, which highlighted KCCI's status as the fourth oldest Chamber of India (founded in 1924), concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair, office bearers, and attending members. This AGM marks a significant milestone for KCCI as it enters its centennial year, underscoring its longstanding role in Kashmir's economic landscape while addressing contemporary challenges.

The members highlighted various issues requiring urgent attention of the Government for their resolution. They pointed out that some issues were pending resolution for quite some time.

The President apprised the house about the ongoing efforts KCCI was engaged in to seek redressal of the problems faced by various sectors of the economy and assured that the issues raised in the meeting will be pursued with greater zeal and zest.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the chair, the office bearers and the members of the KCCI who had attended the meeting in large numbers.
