Srinagar, Nov 13: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) extends its warm congratulations to the newly elected office bearers of the Jammu & Kashmir Fruits & Vegetables Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA), following their successful electoral process conducted on November 9, 2024.

KCCI extends congratulations to Bashir Ahmad Naik who has been elected as the new President of JKPICCA, assuming leadership of an organisation that represents Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Storage Units across the entire region of Jammu & Kashmir. It also extends felicitations to Mohammad Arif Mir and Ishfaq Ahmad Malik on their election to the posts of Vice President and General Secretary respectively. The KCCI also commends the role of outgoing team of office bearers lead by Majid Aslam Wafai.

The KCCI is optimistic about a proactive role of JKPICCA representing the region's cold storage infrastructure, overseeing approximately 5,00,000 MT of CA storage capacity across 86 units, more- so, with the growing contribution of Horticulture Culture in the GDP of Jammu & Kashmir.

While congratulating the new office bearers, KCCI emphasises the importance of timely elections within business associations across the region. The Chamber urges other business organisations to conduct their electoral processes as per their mandated constitutions, viewing this as essential for fostering vibrant democratic practices within the business community.

"Regular and transparent elections are fundamental to maintaining the dynamism and effectiveness of our business associations," the KCCI encourages associations to follow JKPICCA's example in conducting timely and well-organized electoral processes held under the supervision of observers including Secretary General KCCI Faiz Ahmad Bakshi.
