Katra-Amritsar Expressway Land Acquisition: J&K cabinet deliberates to sort out compensation issue
Jammu, Aug 22: The Jammu and Kashmir cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Friday deliberated to sort out the issue related to compensation to shopkeepers for land acquisition in Nai Basti, Satwari of Jammu by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.
Official sources said that other agenda items deliberated during the cabinet meeting at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, included the elevation of the Joint Director of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the grant of state land on lease for government projects besides other issues.
However, no discussions took place in the cabinet during its meeting vis-à-vis the schedule of the J&K Assembly session as was being anticipated.
“No proposal to recommend convening of the assembly session was on the agenda today,” they said.
“Though no discussions took place about the schedule of the J&K Assembly session during today’s cabinet meeting, it (session) is very likely in mid-September. The call on this account may be taken in the next cabinet meeting, which may occur in the coming few days,” sources said.
