Kathua firefight: One militant killed, ops on

Srinagar, Sept 29: An unidentified militant has been killed in the ongoing gunfight in Billawar area of Jammu's Kathua, reports said Sunday.

The gunfight started Saturday evening with one Head Constable of police being killed and a DySP and an ASI being injured.

Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported that the firefight resumed today morning and security forces were able to gun down one militant even as his body was retrieved from the spot.

The operation in the area is still underway, and the Jammu police chief, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain is personally monitoring the whole operation, they said.

The gunfight happens amid the ongoing assembly elections in the region. Jammu is going to polls on Oct 1.
