Kashmiri Pandits celebrate 5100 years of Saptrishi system

Srinagar, April 10: Kashmiri Pandits Tuesday under the banner of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj celebrated Saptrishi Samvat 5100 at the historic Vichar Nag in Srinagar.

As per a press statement, Governor of Haryana, Bandharu Dattatray addressed the gathering of hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits and shone light on the contribution of Kashmir in the development of Sanatan Dharma, knowledge system and the development of spiritual consciousness.

Dattatray also released a calendar to commemorate the 5100 years of Saptrishi system and assured the audience of his commitment to renovate and restore the temples of Kashmir.

The J&K LG,  Manoj Sinha also greeted the hindu community through a telephonic conversation.

On the occasion, Prof Raj Nehru and Prof Ramesh Bhardwaj announced a seat on research of Kashmir Shaivism.

The role of Jammu Kashmir Police in its fight against terrorism was also appreciated while a book by Amit Raina on the same subject was also dedicated.

Kiran Wattal, Convenor Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, thanked the  Governor, distinguished guests and highlighted the importance of the Saptrishi Calendar.

He also expressed gratitude on behalf of the community towards LG Manoj Sinha for the revival of Sanatana in Kashmir.  Wattal thanked the local residents, J&K Police, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, SMC, Tourism, PDD and the entire administration for their support in making the event successful.
