Kashmiri Pandit delegation meets Karra to highlight key issues
Srinagar, Sep 12: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits under the aegis of Vision Kashmir organisation met PCC President Tariq Hameed Karra at PCC HQ here and highlighted the demands of the community, said a party press release.
They apprised Karra about the various issues of displaced community before him and requested for taking up their genuine demands for early resolution by the authorities.
The main issues highlighted by the delegation included the issue of punching of NAFSA database in ration cards and pointed out grave irregularities in its format. The delegation demanded that government should announce a blue print for the permanent rehabilitation of the displaced community in consultation with the real stakeholders who are victims and real sufferers of displacement.
They demanded reservation of atleast 5 percent be announced to accommodate our backlog of 34 years in every field for our recurring loss. Besides the displaced community be given the minority status which is their fundamental right being a miniscule minority who have never got the same. The delegation also demanded that a comprehensive compensation scheme be announced for the over aged youth, shopkeepers and agriculturists on the analogy of losses compensated to others in last 36 years of turmoil.
They further demanded that displaced community should be brought under 55 central government sponsored social welfare schemes for which only displaced has been made an exception, besides they demanded enhancement of cash assistance on war footing basis being overdue now from last 8 years.
