Kashmiri feature film Qouluf, the Ensorcelled screened at INOX Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 5: In a landmark moment for Kashmiri cinema, Qouluf, the Ensorcelled, directed by Ali Emran and produced by Yaqout Mushtaq, was screened today at INOX Srinagar.

The filmmakers in a statement said this momentous occasion marks the first time in 60 years that a Kashmiri language feature film has been screened in a cinema hall in Kashmir— setting a historic precedent for the revival of Kashmiri language and culture through cinema.

“The screening of Qouluf, the Ensorcelled was not just a cinematic event, but a cultural milestone. It reflects a growing resurgence in the region’s indigenous language, highlighting the importance of preserving Kashmiri heritage through storytelling on the big screen,” it said.

Set against the backdrop of Kashmir’s mystical landscapes, Qouluf, the Ensorcelled tells a spellbinding story that intricately blends spirituality, tradition, and the richness of Kashmiri culture. “This film, made with deep respect for Kashmiri ethos, is a powerful example of local storytelling reaching the mainstream, re-establishing Kashmiri cinema’s place in the world of filmmaking.”
