Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024 kicks off
Srinagar, Aug 1: The second season of Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024 commenced today at Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
Organised by 31 Sub Area under the aegis of Chinar Corps, the tournament has drawn 12 teams from across Kashmir, featuring 160 talented women cricketers.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the GOC, 31 Sub Area, as Chief Guest, with the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir as Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries encouraged participants to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The unveiling of the tournament trophy marked the official start of the event, scheduled to run from August 1 to 8.
This year's league aims to further promote women's cricket in the region, fostering competition and camaraderie among players. The Army's support for the event underscores its commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality in sports. The tournament is being held in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ujala Cygnus chain of Hospitals, and Hope Alive NGO, highlighting a community-wide effort to support women's sports in Kashmir.
